Geometry Dash Elder Moderator, Pauze, has repeatedly said that "2.2 is right around the corner." This is in response to Geometry Dash being removed from the Google Play Store following security concerns.
Pauze, who has contact with RobTop Games, has put out an official statement as a Geometry Dash Moderator saying that 2.2 is very soon.
RobTop also confirmed that he had a Geometry Dash 2.2 deadline of August 31, as that's when he expected Geometry Dash to be removed from the Google Play Store. Unfortunately, it was removed sooner than he expected.
